


Spring
Creek Preserve is located on state road access
just off Highway 209, a North Carolina Scenic Byway. A private
gate and long driveway bordered by split rail fencing insures privacy
to the historic farm house. The property is 22 miles north of Waynesville
and less than an hour’s drive to the Asheville airport. The
community of Hot Springs is 15 miles north. Pisgah National Forest
and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a short drive to
the west. Outdoor recreation features ski resorts, trout fishing,
whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and rock climbing. Waynesville
and Asheville are culturally diverse communities and vibrant centers
of the arts.
Directions from Asheville Airport:
- Leave airport and turn left.
- Follow signs for I-26 West (1/4 mile to entrance ramp)
- I-26 W to I-40 W (approx. 10 miles)
- Take I-40 W to Exit 24 (to 209N Lake Junaluska / Hot Springs)
- Take NC Scenic Highway 209N for 8.1 miles, take right at Ferguson's
Supply General Store
- Continue on 209N for 10.5 miles. You should see the Trust General
Store (closed) on your right.
- Continue on 209N for one half mile past Trust General Store
and intersection of Highway 63.
- Turn left onto Rock House Road (in a sharp curve just past
15mph sign).
- Drive 1.1 miles to rock entrance. Access road to Spring Creek
Preserve is through the columns on the right. Private driveway
to Cardenas homestead is through the metal gate on the left.
Homestead is pale yellow farmhouse on the right.
Directions from Waynesville:
Take Highway 23/74N to NC Scenic Highway 209N (Intersection with
Lowe's and Wal-Mart) 22 miles north to ROCK HOUSE ROAD, proceed
as above.
