Spring Creek Preserve was designed
to protect the natural beauty of a 120-acre historic farm in Western
North Carolina. Just north of the townships of Luck and Trust we
found a magnificent cove 0f old-growth timber, streams, waterfalls
and wildlife. The townships, we learned were appropriately named.
Our vision was not to cut another golf course into the mountainside,
or to cluster as many housing units onto the land as possible.
Instead, we designed the Preserve to have maximum privacy in large
parcels—5 to 16 acres each—with a minimum of home sites
that offered the finest locations along streams and on ridges with
mountain views. Tying it all together are nature trails, conservation
parks, and common land that makes this quiet community a rare exception
among the developments of Western North Carolina.
There is a two-story farm house
on the property built circa 1880 that has been lovingly restored
and expanded. Inside this custom
crafted 3BR/2BA home there is a large kitchen and great room
with a soaring cathedral ceiling that showcases a beautiful
stone fireplace.
There is a cozy library and home theatre room for relaxing
or reading by a second fireplace. A sleeping porch is accentuated
with sounds
of a rushing stream just outside. The downstairs bedroom suite
features a third fireplace and a connecting bath. Upstairs
is
an additional guestroom and a romantic master suite and bath
with
a large Jacuzzi, separate shower, double sinks, and a heated
towel rack. Also on the property is an historic
Virginia hand hewn square log cabin dating back to the early 1800s.
It was
carefully reassembled
on a parcel with a spectacular mountain overlook and view of the
valley of Spring Creek. This cabin is a craftsman’s showcase
featuring vintage timbers, wormy chestnut doors and trim, locally
forged hardware, wide heart pine flooring, a cedar shake roof,
and magnificent dry stack stonework. All plumbing, electric, and
furnace heat is new.
We have also just completed a beautiful
hand-crafted square log home on one of our finest parcels. It was
designed by
the prestigious
Fireside Log Home Company of Asheville as a state-of-the-art
log and heavy timber home with 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths with grand
wraparound
porches and a full basement. It features cathedral ceilings,
granite and stainless kitchen, custom fireplace, heated marble
baths, large
bedrooms, and walk-in closets.
Spring Creek Preserve is a sanctuary
lush with hardwood forests, fern gardens, and spectacular rock
formations providing cover
for wildlife including deer, bobcat, and wild turkey. There
area nearly
2,000’ of fast moving mountain streams and creeks, including
a main branch that rushes through the center of the parcel in
front of the farm house. The watershed is habitat to wild mountain
brook
trout and large stocked rainbow trout. Who needs golf courses
and cluster housing when you can have all of this?
